Rooms at The Iberostar Tainos

We stayed in one of the bungalows on the ground floor close to the beach. The rooms are ok; yes they could do with a lick of paint here and there, but they were clean and the towels and sheets were clean.
Our room had one of the biggest beds I have ever seen, at first I thought it was two doubles put together, we also had a single bed in the corner of the room.
In the main room there was a TV which does have some okay channels and a small fridge, there was a table and two chairs and a dressing table with a stool and mirror. Next to the bed there were two bedside tables but they only had one draw each, in the room in front of the bathroom we found a wardrobe and small chest of drawers, opposite there is the sink and a large mirror stretched right across the wall, in the bathroom there was a shower, bath, toilet and bidet.

In the wardrobe you will find a safety deposit box, when you first arrive the reception staff will advise you on the cost of hiring it, I think it was about 14 pesos for two weeks and you can pay there and then and will be provided with a key card to access it.

On the patio we found two plastic chairs and a small table.

Being on the ground floor we did on one occasion have a problem with ants coming in the patio doors, but rather than moaning to reception I just sprayed the area with my bug spray 5 minutes later no more ants. Simple!!!
We did have a few other visitors some more welcomed then others, a cockroach in the bath which met its end by my boyfriends flip flop and we had a baby lizard that scared me but only because I was opening the curtains and it dropped down.
What you have to remember is that you are in the Caribbean so you have to expect these things.

The rooms do have air conditioning, ours was working fine when we first arrived but on the third day it developed a fault and didn't keep the room as cool as it had been previously, the staff on the reception will call you occasionally to make sure everything is ok, we told them about the problem, turned out the filter wasn't working properly. The next day we received a bottle of rum and a plate of fruit as compliments from the hotel manager for the trouble, which was really nice.
