Varadero Beach

The beach in Varadero is amazing, when we first arrived it was raining and I refused to go and see the beach for the first time until the sun came out, but it was worth the wait. The sea is crystal clear and warm, it is also shallow so you can walk out quite a way before it starts to get deep so really good for kids. The sand is so soft and thick and you can see they do there best to keep it clean.

There are plenty of sun beds which a nice man will get for you and brush the sand off, and plenty of umbrellas. There are also lots of ceramic pots dotted about for rubbish, this brings me to one of my annoying niggles, if you have a drink put the empty cup in the bin its not hard there are lots about, and if you're a smoker don't use the sand as a giant ashtray, keep one of the cups or just get off your butt and put it in the bin. I am a smoker and I found myself cleaning up other peoples fag ends because they were to lazy, these places wont stay beautiful if we continue to trash them.

There are people who walk the beaches selling T-Shirts, hats etc, but unlike some places they wont come up to you and hassle you they will just wait for you to approach them if your interested, there also have some small stalls which have some beautiful fabrics and wooden carvings.

We were also approached by men offering horse riding, scuba diving and even sky diving if you are brave enough!!

There are Pedalos, Kayaks and a couple of Hobby Cats which are part of the all inclusive package, for anyone who is not a strong swimmer there are plenty of life jackets from small for the kids to large for the adults.
